Shatter Hands – CPHMIX 016

Very talented producer, live a master on the SP-404 and overall a very sympathetic guy, Johan Klinkvort aka SHATTER HANDS from Denmark did a nice mix for the Red Bull Music Academy Copenhagen.

The mix features old and new more traditional and as well forward thinking electronic influenced Hip Hop. As a special treat he also put in two unreleased tracks of his Berlin based Crew BERLIN ZOO. Be sure to check them cats out too!

Already having contributed beat tapes for the Outlier Recordings and the Urban Waves Records label, he’s not a newbie anymore, but also never sticks to old. Shatter Hands is honing his craft of beatmaking and I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a lot more good work we can listen to in the future.

For the people who are capable of speaking danish, here’s a short interview with the Red Bull Academy CPH.

Enjoy the mix!

CULP – LAN PARTY

Now what’s this?

CULP from Canada kicking asses. CULP is part of a visual artists collective with his partners PooK and L00HESH.

As he says, he’s spending most of his time “ buying/trading/playing synthesizers and … rid[ing] around on [his] bike.“

Rather short, but heavy bass-synth-sound driven beat-shit’s awaiting you. If that“s not your cup of tea, better protect ya ears – boom’n’pow!

Listen and enjoy!

AARON EVO – MERCS POPPIN BEAT TAPE

Not only hip hop has gone through a lot of changes. So have dancing styles, that were always hip hop’s company and inspiration.

Consequentially some producers throughout the production process might have kept an eye on giving B-Boys what they’re out for on this spanking beat tape   – dope next-century electro-funk infused breaks.

Assembled by AAron Evo from Paris some of the finest hip hop producers such as Elaquent, Juno Akasawa or Sunclef besides fresh new guys, not as well known, but worth checking out, give you an insight of how hip hop’s meant to sound, when B-Boys and B-Girls get funky on the dancefloor.

Give this free tape a try and shake your hips!

Enjoy!

TAPE-ROC – 24 (BEAT TAPE)

Without further introduction, due to the fact I lack further info on TAPE-ROC  from Sweden, here’s a nice little beat tape. 24 beats from the years 2011-2012 in a half-hour mix. Jazzy samples dancing to nice drum rhythms in good company with saturated basslines. Hip Hop y’all!

Enjoy!

CHROMADADATA – KRAYT DIGGZ

Nice loopy hip hop beats from St. Augustine/ Florida made by Ian Jones aka CHROMADA DATA on Krayt Diggz. He kicks it badass, just boom-bip + heavy samples, some of the sources are well known. But who cares as long as they do what they were made for – letting you have a good time nodding your head to.

Enjoy!

MD – ELECTRIC SKY

Yeah, underground’s not dead – it’s alive! Beatsmith collective Tape Death from North York, Australia gives you an aural ass-whooping not only with this release.

Listen to MD and his space funk lightning thunder coming from an Electric Sky to elecrify your ear bones with thick kicks and lovely crunchy snares, fresh bass and extraterrestrial synths. Instrumentation, production, mixing and mastering were entirely done by MD plus „No sample loops – made entirely from one-shot drums & synths.“

Rubber Beats Vol. III

East Flanders represent through Caoutchou Records latest release.

Rubber Beats Vol. III is packed with familiar artists, some artist you might have heard of, but half of them guys seem unknown to the scene, unless you are  an internet fiend and spent your days and nights stalking muthafuckers, which I hope you don’t do.

The mixture of ambient, dubstep, 8-bit game fun, hip hop flavored future beats and some serious deep shit offers sounds for each of your dark desires and  even might fill a gap in your collection of unheard ideas.

My favorite tunes were done by Anders Walldén, Ninjato and Lunz. Which are your’s?

To find an answer, listen and

enjoy!

HAZEEM – Cosmic Healer (raw edit)

2 months of absence to the internet and without access to digital media taught me how recreative and healing to an overloaded mind time can be without it. But now that I’m back it must have been a sign to get hit up by HAZEEM, Berlin based beatmaker, and hear this nice little track by the name of Cosmic Healer. Dig it?

Classic beat and synth work for your late-night head nod or letting your mind float in anticipation of spring weather promises, BBQs and having beers with good friends.

The track is a raw edit and soon to be released on the next Rapohnelizenz beat tape. So keep your eyes and ears open!

Enjoy!

HIMURO YOSHITERU – OUR TURN ANYTIME

Fresh out the box HIMURO YOSHITERU from Tokyo/Japan is chopping it up samurai-style. The best release I heard since the year turned 2012.

He’s dropping a heavy 17-track album going by the name of Our Turn, Anytime, giving an impressive insight in how multifaceted music is and can be. Heavy bass, hip hop sample mastery and even tracks reminding me of some older jazzy work of Amon Tobin make it a fun-to-listen-to album.

But listen for yourselves.

Enjoy!
